>Ways Of Sharing Files In Windows 7
I want to make this clear now. This article is not for everyone. It is not for you if you feel you already know ways of sharing files in Windows 7 or other Operating Systems. In this particular article, that is what I am going to be talking about. If you do not know how to do it. Please read this article to the very end and you will start sharing files in no time.
Sharing as a system in an Operating System is used to share files, printers and other resources on a network. It allows multiple users to access a file or a folder by enabling them to Read, Modify, Copy and Print files as well.
Attackers who can access a single computer in a network can also steal resources and data from other computers in a network. Once a computer in a network is vulnerable, other computers on that particular network are vulnerable. So, when it comes to sharing a file, you should only share the required files and not the entire files on that particular network.
Type of File Sharing
What Is Covered
#1 Default Share
In this kind of file sharing, you are making all files available to whoever wants to transfer your files from one place to another. This type of file sharing does not provide any security. It also allows almost anyone who can access your device or system to transfer your files. This type of file sharing requires no configuration as well.
#2 Restricted share
This type of file sharing is more protected than other types of file sharing method. The method provides security by limiting the number of users accessing the files or sharing documents at a particular time. It also allots permission to control user activity on the share. This includes both online and offline users as well.
Transferring files
When it comes to transferring files from one device to another, there are several methods that can be deployed when you need to transfer files. Here are some of the methods.
#1 Through email and messenger
You can actually transfer files through emails and messaging applications. Now, with the coming of Android enabled phones, it is now possible to transfer files through the Xender Application among others. Therefore, anytime you need to send through email or messenger applications, you have to make sure that you scan your document for viruses.
#2 Through Web Folders
We can transfer files using web folders and web applications. Some of these protocols include FTP, Telnet, and other web folder applications. This will also require you to enter a valid username and password for authorised access to files and other web applications.
#3 Peer to Peer network
Peer to Peer applications are configured such that all members of the network can access each other’s hard drives and folder by default. This type of configuration should be disabled by default.
